Chiaroscuro Demo Launched!

Hello!

Introducing the demo release of Chiaroscuro!  Chiaroscuro is a 2D adventure platformer with metroidvania elements. Take control of Rose, a mysterious amnesic, and explore a world that has fallen into darkness—where only a few precious flickers of light remain. From peaceful grasslands to a long-forgotten mine, Rose will navigate this interconnected 2D world as she gains new abilities and faces off against monstrous creatures, as well as other adventures with their own hidden plans for the light they all covet.

I'm excited to introduce you guys to my project!  I am currently seven months into development and it is going quite smoothly.  The game is being developed in GameMaker Studio 2.  This version is an alpha version, and showcases the general feel of the game.

If you are interested in following development, feel free to check out the game's sites!

The game's Kickstarter Pre-Launch page is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rustey/chiaroscuro.  Kickstarter launches October 1st!
The game's Discord is discord.gg/kPuwS73.  I typically post a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff here and this is where the game's community lies.
The game's Twitter is https://twitter.com/ChiaroscuroGame.  I post general announcements here.

I had installed this game when the demo first dropped, and after seeing an update I thought the exaggeratedly zoomed in camera issue would be gone, but it's still the same. I have a 28 "in 4k monitor, and I just can't play or enjoy the game at all. Not sure why this couldn't be easily solved by now, but I don't know how things are going on your end. Hope this can be solved in future updates.

I also work with Gamemaker btw, so that's why I am wondering the aspect ration thing. I like the Hollow Knight vibe a lot, and the sound design, just wish I could play this properly. Best of luck in with your development!

Change your computer's display settings to 1920x1080 and restart the game, after which you should be good to play it properly.  I explain this as a disclaimer before downloading the game.  It's also on Steam and there's an event going on with a special boss fight.  Go check it out!

Thanks for the tip. I didn't see that anywhere to be honest, so It's my fault. I hope the resolution problem still gets addressed in the future.

Alright, so I just went through the game, and I was very pleased with the aestetics of it, and how nice the platforming feels. I love it.  I know this is just a demo, and this is something you'll probably cover, but skipping text once read would be nice. Same thing for boss fights intros. The levels are well designed, adn I never felt lost. I enjoyed every aspec tof it, and the sfx were pretty charming.

You're doing great so far. Keep it up!
